Position Summary
We are Mad Squirrel Brewery; a forward thinking, contemporary brewery based just outside London, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills We are looking for a motivated, positive and dynamic brewer. With your experience you should be able to confidently work the floor and lead the other brewers by example. We want a professional that shares our vision of constant quality improvement, has the right work ethic to easily integrate in our working culture and make the company grow to the next level.

Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to
  • Work the floor and lead/mentor brewing apprentice and interns
  • Wort production on our three-vessel brewhouse
  • Brewery Maintenance
  • Stock control
  • Fermentation control
  • Run our 720 u/h ABE canning line and ensure all legal and quality specifications are met
  • Ensure that all standards of health and safety are maintained and met
  • Ensure that all standards of quality and food safety are maintained and met
  • Yeast management (pitching harvest, tracking, microbiological control)
  • Report to head brewer
  • Occasionally representing the brewery in our Tap and Bottle Shops and events

Requirements
  • Professional Brewing experience in wort production/cold side (2+ Years); packaging experience is not counted unless it contains the managing of Packaging lines
  • Experience in brewery microbiology
  • Some leadership experience
  • Good team player and communicator
  • A positive and can-do work approach
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional weekend work (working hours can fall anywhere between 0700am and 23:00pm depending on the brewing/packaging schedule)
  • Holding a brewing related degree
  • Physically fit

Advantageous but not necessarily required
  • Experienced in sensory analysis
  • HACCP level 3 qualified
  • Fork truck licence
  • Experience in using Brewman (Premier system) or any other data management software
  • Experience in working to a quality system
